Give an update
Lead with the outcome, then the detail. "We shipped X; here's what's next."
Explain a delay
Own it, don't bury it. State the new date and the one thing you're changing.
Disagree respectfully
Agree on the goal, then offer the alternative. "I want the same result — could we try…?"
Pitch an idea
Problem, idea, one benefit, the ask. Keep it under a minute.
Say the hard thing, kindly.
- "Just to make sure I understood — you're saying…?"
- "I see it a little differently, and here's why."
- "That's on me. Here's the new plan."
- "Can I offer another option before we decide?"
- "To summarise, we agreed on three things…"
